An Anatomy of Terror

The title is taken from a book that I have recently read.

Many peoples vision of millitancy, terrorism, a martyr would be something along these lines! Generalisation of the majority because of the actions of the minority? Why? Ignorance per chance? We in the West have set ourselves certain standards which we believe are the bench marks for a democratic and therefore more stable society! Do our politicians have the right to force our idea of 'society' on others? I maybe wrong, but I believe it was D H Lawrence who stated that "to understand another peoples culture you must first immerse yourself in it". Do we truly understand the cultures of others enough to make these far reaching decisions?

This shot is not about cultures, but about ordinary people and the predjudice meted out on them every day due to the actions of but a few. The prejudice, racism, ignorance that sickens me to the pit of my stomach. The tarring with the same brush of the majority with that militant minority through the ignorance of those who do not understand or who chose not to care!

Sudjugate a people and there will always be willing martyrs! Faith consists of this form of belief that impels men to action. Only tolerance can help create a truly multi-cultural society.

This picture is as much the face of terrorism as is any picture I have taken, it is just a woman who cares for the needs of her family like any other mother, runs late for work like we all have etc, etc.....! If I were to take a shot of a terrorist (freedom fighter in the eyes of some) would they look any differently to you or I? Probably not!

Wherever you see predjudice stand up and be counted, we all have a responsibility to pour water on this ever growing flame.........

Respect other religions, cultures, your neighbour and their right to believe in another God other than yours, to live their life in the way they chose.

This shot is dedicated to all those people of the world who are subjugated by others for whatever reason. May they one day have the opportunity to experience the freedom that I know I too often take for granted.

*NB: This shot is obviously set-up, but it is to illustrate a point.
